Prayer Requests

8/15/18 Wes Berry doing well but needs continuing payers.

Prayer Update: Ermie Berry’s surgery went well. She will continue her immediate recovery at YRMC West for a few more days. Her “total” recovery will be long, so please continue praying for her “total” recovery.

7/27/18

Please pray for Wes Berry who is in YRMC East and will be transferred to YRMC West. He has a stone lodged in a bile duct. He will have orthoscopic surgery tomorrow. If the surgeon can not get the stone orthoscopically, then regular surgery will be necessary. Please pray that all goes well. God bless! – Ermie Berry

Below is the latest on Bro Larry Battin’s wife. Please keep Larry and Carol in your prayers.

“Spent a week in the hospital in Kalispell, MT.  Had to have new blood pumped
in again and finally got home tonight (07/16/2018).   Better but not 100% yet. Thank you
all for your prayers. God Bless, Carol”

Brothers,

Please pray for 2 year old Micah, our brother’s great grandson.  He had brain surgery last Thursday and is in the recovery process.  The surgery was successful and the doctor’s felt it went much better than expected.  His motor skills are increasing day by day.  However, he is still in a lot of pain and labs will be taken today to check his kidneys. Please pray for his continued recovery and full and speedy healing.  God bless you all.  Carla & Bob Foster

fellow Knight, Monte Dragon, that after returning from being out of state recently, his health quickly turned, and after seeing a doctor he was placed in the hospital for further testing.

Here I’m thinking both he and Myrna are up in Vegas (just kidding), and all the time he’s been under the stress and pain that he’s facing currently. He is home resting but is under doctors care and all indication, surgery is in his future. He sends his love and regards to all and hopes to be back soon and I told him, we will all be praying for him. “Thumbs Up Brother..!”

In speaking with Linda today, we discussed an array of issues to include two funerals taking place this week. Sadly, the wife of one time Brother Knight himself known to many of you as “Bud”, Helen Diedriech has passed herself. The funeral is now scheduled for this Wednesday, June 6th, with the Rosary set for 10 a.m., prior to her funeral at 10:30.

On Friday, June 8th, I’m told that Jeanne’s funeral will take place beginning at 10:30, with service following the Rosary. On a personal note, both she and her sister now herself passed a number of years ago now, lived next door to my mother is when I first met Jeanne. We always talked and laughed during those years, but sadly, the reality of them all is that they are now in God’s hands until we all meet again… Amen?

Finally, please continue to pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ who are facing their own battles of health, let alone those who are rendering care which in it’s self,  breaks us down in some manner of fashion. We are with you too in prayer….

As you read on you will quickly understand my reason’s for sending this email as many within our council need our prayers and constant vigilance with them in simply being there for starters. This said, the following names are that not only of council members, but also the wives who are in great need to be in our circle of prayer as well.
Brothers Jim Cloughessy and his wife, Tom Warner and his wife, Monte Dragon and his wife, David Vogt and his wife, David Hertko and his wife, Tomas Munoz and his wife,
Tom Mellinger and his wife, Paul Barko and his wife, Bob Bustos and his wife, Mike Russel, Larry Battin and his wife, Gonzalo Garcia and his wife, Deacon Wayland and his wife, Cong Van Tong and his wife, Bob Foster and his wife, Wes Berry and his wife, and finally, my personal thank you again for your prayers prior to my surgery in December that has paved a way of recovery the likes to which has brought a great sense of strength and general well being I haven’t had in years.
In conclusion and please forgive me if I’ve missed someone, as I’m not the brightest bulb in the box as it’s said.  But we as men of faith, must always place others before our needs and why I call upon you to close this circle each within your own heart, mind and prayer.
Thank you and Vivat Jesus!
Sincerely,
Lexy A. Larez

Brother Jim Cloughessy
Lexy, We saw Dr H. at Az.  Oncology this a.m. He is going to refer Jim to Hospice. His cancer is out of control and is all over his body and in his bones. He is tired, but accepting his fate. Thank GOD we have HIM in our life!!!!!!!!. We are going to make the “best” of the time we have left. Love you and the St Germaine family. Marlene

2/26/18

Please add brother David Vogt to your prayers and of course his wife.

David has been hospitalized here in PV.  and is responding to medications and has been relocated from ICU status. He can receive visit’s I’m told, but only short one’s is requested. He’s here in Prescott Valley, East, and is in Rm. 2022.

Brother David as many of you know, is a recent transfer into this council

 Jim Cloughessy, is home, resting well and using his words, I feel fine, and happy to be sitting in my Lazy Boy. He is taking phone calls, and thanks everyone for this recent alarm in having to go back to Phoenix.

2/23/18, Bro Jim Cloughessy, update

Brother Jim Cloughessy is current back at the VA Health Center in Phoenix. It appears blockage reoccurred causing him to return locally, where he was in turn transferred back down the hill. I did speak with Marlene this morning where she explained as best she could given the fact that he was to have been released today, but all that’s changed until they can secure issues from his previous surgery.  Our prayers for them both I ask…. Thank you

2/9/18

Jim’s very weak but alert, and it was mentioned also by Marlene, that next Wednesday, there will be a Mass for Jim, (which I’ve confirmed with the Admin Office), at the 8:00 Mass Tuesday morning.

Jim is at the VA Hospital in Phoenix and will remain there as he’s scheduled for surgery Tuesday to have a stent placed. In the mean time, Marlene is home taking care of mailing’s and bills. She is tired and will attempt to gather her strength before heading back down the hill and when asked if there’s anything we can do for her, she’s mentioned that their Grandson is there at the house and is of great help.  So for now, please continue prayers for this great brother of ours and for his wife. Thank you

Your Brother In Christ

Mike O’Marah had another heart attack on Monday. Tues he had 2 stents put in and a lesion in the heart removed. He is feeling much better and is going home today.

Thank you everyone for the prayers, St Germaines has the best prayer warriors. God bless you all. Martha O’Marah

2/6/18 Update  Mike O’Marah.

He was just given 6 or 8 grams of Morphine.
He also has an IV in each arm. Nitro Glycerin dripping in one arm and fluids in the other.
He’s in good spirits.
Tomorrow mornings Angiogram will tell how good a shape he’s in physically (the three veins that deliver blood to the lower portion of his heart are suspect–hoping stents) .

2/5 update  Bro Jim Cloughessy

Could you please add Jim Cloughessy to the prayer list. He was seen in ER
and he has an inflamed gallbladder and a small blockage of the small bowel.
He will be having surgery very soon@ Phoenix VA. Marlene asks us to pray.

2/5 Brother Larry Battin’s wife, Carol, update

Could you please put me on your prayer lists.   I ended up in the hospital again Saturday and was diagnosed with 2 bleeding ulcers.   Had them cauterized and released yesterday.    Still in pain today and going to the ER to have my stitches taken out from my fall 10 days ago.  Thank you and God Bless you all.   Carol

2/4

We had a meeting with the surgeon today. At this point he wants to avoid surgery and is planning to insert a tube in Jim’s side for drainage and a port for an IV for nourishment. No more solid food. Poor Jim. He is brave, however and a pillar of courage. Please keep him in your prayers. We love you, Lexy.
2/3

Time now, 11:30 am, I just got off the phone speaking with Marlene, when suddenly she said, “Here, let me have you talk to Jimbo” and he comes on the phone..!!!  This said, I briefly spoke with him as I didn’t want to over tax him or myself quite frankly. Anyway, he hasn’t had the surgery we keep hearing about, but they intend to drain areas of build up and inject med’s that have the qualities Jim needs upper most. And again, Jim, sends a warm thank you for all of your prayers, both to himself and to Marlene. She’s there with him in Phoenix and appears all is being done to arrest what they can, and with our continued prayers, is all he ask’s…. and the call ended there on a positive note.

Big sigh on my part just now, I love this guy. Thank you one and all.

In reading this email sent yesterday to us all, I will take the lead in saying that brother Gonzalo and his lovely with, Ernestina, will not only has our prayers, but himself, a member to this council and current Trustee of three, joins a list of others as well as the spouses, family members and friends, all have our support when called upon, big or small.
We are indebted to all our officers and their leadership, and Gonzalo is just that by both his actions and deeds. I close in saying, that as you read this message piggy-backing onto Brother Earl’s, I continue to pray for all of us, those gone ahead, and to our loved ones who need our silent support in prayer, whom have no knowledge of this from us, Amen?
Thank you all….

Please pray for our Grand Knight and his upcoming surgery.

O Jesus Christ, Messiah and Lord, grant our Grand Knight joyful acceptance of the surgery which awaits him, and let this be the relief and cure which he seeks. Make skilled the work of the surgeon and that of his team for it is unto their knowledge and skill that we depend.  I pray You, O Lord, that this procedure will be without complication, and that our Grand Knight’s recovery will be speedy and complete.  Jesus, we trust in You!

Join Bishop Olmsted and the Diocese of Phoenix on Monday August 21 as we begin a the 54-day novena prayer in honor of Our Lady of Fatima. We hope you will join us in praying the rosary daily, offering acts of penance, and doing your part to bring about peace on Earth as Our Lady promised! The novena will conclude with our bishop consecrating our diocese to the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Text fatima100 to 84576 to receive messages from Bishop Olmsted and the Diocese of Phoenix during these 54 days of prayer. 1. We humbly suggest that at the beginning or end of each day, or during a meal, pray with your family either:

    2. A full rosary

  3. Include any special intentions that your family may have.

Family Prayer of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary for the Centenary of Our Lady of FatimaMother Mary, we consecrate our entire family to your Immaculate Heart. We desire to renew the promises of our baptism and place each member of our family, through this consecration, into loving union with your Holy Family.At Fatima, dear Mother of God, you appeared with St. Joseph and the Child Jesus, blessing the world. Intercede for our family that each of us grow in the virtues and joy which you lived as a family. Help us to grow as faithful disciples of Jesus; help our domestic church to grow as a light which gives your Son glory from our home.Our Lady of Fatima, pray for Jesus’ peace to fill each member of our family. (You may wish to name each family member, or a particular family member, at this point if it seems right to do so.) Never permit any member of our family to stray from the Catholic Faith. For any member of our family who is beset by doubts, we beseech you to be their guide through the darkness back to the light of your Son. Watch over our perseverance so that we may all one day be reunited with you and the whole family of God in our Father’s house.Amen

I saw Bro Ken O’Daniel at Fry’s gas station yesterday. He said, “Earl, good seeing you. We are well. Our son came down from Pendleton, OR, to check on us. We went down to the airport to pick him up and spent the week at a golf resort about 15 minutes from the airport. It was good seeing him. We had a good visit.” I thought Ken looked pretty good. He’s come a long way since his stroke. Let’s keep him and his family in our prayers.I talked to Bro Jim Cloughessy a few days ago. He’s home. His son is staying with him–helping. Jim apologized for not being able to attend our meetings and events, saying he hopes to get back soon! I told him that he needs to make himself and his recovery priority #1 and that we were praying for him and his family. Continue to keep them in your prayers.I had heard that Bro Roger Cornwall was experiencing some severe medical issues. He said “No”. His wife, Delia had surgery and is home recovering. Roger’s cooking for her now, but he doesn’t know how to cook Philippine food, so she’s really suffering! Keep them in your prayers.God bless,Earl Boggler~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Update on Brother Jim Cloughessy.As of this morning Thursday the 12th, I did speak briefly with Jim where he was noticeably a bit exhausted at the other end of the phone and was more than ready and understandably so, in sleeping in his own bed. He passed along to me in saying that he is scheduled to be transported from Phoenix back to his residence up here on the hill later today.He’s fine and his spirit’s are the same and sends his appreciation to all for the prayers directed to both he and Marlene, who has coordinated everything to perfection. He states that nothing is needed at this time which is in keeping with the previous sentence that the quote, bases are covered for the time being.My personal mention here if I may, is simply that I’ve come to know this brother Knight and I can tell you he is an energy bunny, conscientious towards his duties and beyond. That his love for the Lord and his lovely wife has in my mind, placed me in the presence of a fine human being and one I am proud to call, brother.  Speaking for his entire family, once again, Thank you for your continued prayers and wishes….Respectfully,Bro Lexy LarezDGK, Council 8386~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I also spoke with Bro Jim. He was ready and waiting for transport to come and pick him up. Very soon, he will undergo an evaluation to see if the cancer discovered in his intestine is anywhere else. If so, they will pinpoint precisely where and establish a care plan, maybe radiation but, probably chemo. His son is staying with him and Marlene. Should he need any additional help he’ll contact one of us, probably Lexy.Vivat Jesus,Earl Boggler~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hello to all, thought I’d send an update on Brother Jim Cloughessy and let me share with you that he is both positive and sounds strong over the phone. We both had a good laugh as it’s common knowledge that one is woken up at zero dark thirty only to be let wide awake for the remainder of the day… Jim shares that he may, may come home on Monday, time TBD, but if he is the VA will transport him back up the hill destination, home.  I asked if Marlene needed anything of any sort and was told she has help on such matters, i.e., groceries, etc.I won’t add nor take away what has occurred to date, but knowing Jim’s strength and faith, this too will be behind us all in short order…. Thank you.Respectfully,Bro. Lexy Larez

12 Days of Prayer for the Presecuted Churh

DearSue,Christmas should be a time of joy, love and happiness.But, this is not the case for our Christian brothers and sisters around the world where persecution is extreme and life itself hangs in the balance.
The Middle East has become a death trap for those who profess faith in Christ. In 1947, 12 percent of Iraqis were Christian. Now, the percentage is 0.8, as ISIS empties cities and villages of millennia-old Christian presence. In Saudi Arabia, the Grand Mufti has declared it necessary to destroy all the churches in the region. In Pakistan, our Christian sister Aasiya Bibi is on death row for blasphemy charges for her Christian faith. Nigerians daily live in terror from Boko Haram, which is in a competition with ISIS to see who can murder more innocents.Geographically, they are far removed from us, but spiritually, ourChristian family should be wrapped in our arms through prayer andactivism.

At CUFI, we pledge to never forget them or abandon them. Please join us in 12 days of prayer for our persecuted brethren.

Please pledge to:

Pray on December 13th for Christians in PakistanPray on December 14th for Christians in GazaPray on December 15th for Christians in NigeriaPray on December 16th for Christians in IraqPray on December 17th for Christians in SudanPray on December 18th for Christians in IranPray on December 19th for Christians in Saudi ArabiaPray on December 20th for Christians in SyriaPray on December 21st for Christians in EritreaPray on December 22nd for Christians in MaldivesPray on December 23rd for Christians in LibyaPray on December 24th for Christians in Yemen

 Click here to Sign the Pledge.In Jeremiah 20:11, we read of the Lord’s provision for us, a reminder that the persecutors will stumble and fail.

Please link arms with us during the Christmas season on behalf of our persecuted Christian brothers and sisters.

‘Things not so good. My wound isn’t healing it is dying. Going to try another surgery. Might amputate my leg below the knee’. ‘Surgery this afternoon. One more attempt to clean out the dying tissue but if that doesn’t work they’ll take my leg from the foot up to where I have circulation.’ Deacon Bob advised that when they do the surgery this afternoon, they may make the decision for amputation at that time or wait a few days and see if the new surgery is working.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~3/20/15Dear All,
Sorry about the delay in getting this out but I have been feeling slightly overwhelmed by recent events and my difficulty sleeping at night for more than 5-6 hours.
That aside, Helen continues to show slow improvement in both her energy level and her physical strength. On Tuesday, however, she scared me when her Blood Pressure dropped suddenly and she passed out before I could catch her. She hit the floor and did a number on her chin and left shoulder. Both are bruised and look worse than she says they feel. Her BP came back after several hours of monitoring and her cardiologist saw her on Wednesday and adjusted some of her medications. (Tweeking, he called it.)
She appeared better all day Wednesday but had a reoccurrence of the BP drop yesterday. Fortunately she was on the couch at the time and did not pass out … just flopped over. A call to her cardiologist led to more monitoring, and she will be fitted for a Heart Monitor this afternoon and have to wear it for 24 hrs so that her cardiologist has a better idea of what’s going on with her BP and heart.
Please keep your prayers coming!!!!
God Bless You All!!!!
Paul
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~3/11/15It’s hard to believe that is exactly “4 weeks” today (February 11th.) since Helen’s heart attack …. and her road to recovery began. I continue to see her life as nothing short of a “MIRACLE”, as does her cardiologist and her PCP. Your prayers have meant so much to Helen and me and I ask that you continue to pray for Helen as she still has a long road to traverse before the doctors can say how much of her former activities she will be able to resume. I continue to feel “Very Blessed” that she is alive and recovering her strength and abilities at the rate she has been, realizing that her progress will not be a straight line, but a series of ups and downs along that line ….. together we are walking that road optimistically, hopefully and very gratefully!       Right now it’s “BABY STEPS” ….. and Helen’s positive attitude and determination to continue her PT / OT exercises, walk a little further each day, and do it within the guidelines set out by her physicians and therapists has been inspirational! She still tends to tire by noon, and has given in to taking an afternoon nap (or I’m boring her to sleep). She has begun sleeping better at night, in spite of her “LIFE VEST” (an external defibrilator) that she has to wear 24/7 for the next 3 months and which is anything but comfortable to wear! I have asked people to postpone visits till she has the “ok” from her cardiologist (next appt. is 3/18/15) so that she does not tire even more, can rest and recuperate, and she does not contract a cold/ the flu.  She continues to have a “chronic cough” that is related to being on the ventilator in the hospital and her subsequent contracting of Pneumonia, which she is almost over …. but she is still very vulnerable to “catching something”. Her coughing creates major chest pain due to the CPR compressions done on her /combined with the electric shock treatments she was given (X4) in the ER. I am very proud of her progress, knowing that while she looks better / stronger and puts on an “I’m Ok face”, she is still weak and in need of recuperation / rest.  ************************ Please, keep those prayers coming and know that they “are” making a difference in Helen’s recovery…. PhysicallyEmotionallyMentallySpiritually

So, we join together and pray, Lord, please, no cancer! And Lord, if this is not possible now, we ask that her surgery be a complete success and that the advances in medicine that You have so graciously given us will provide Candeleria a life of remission–a life of joy! Oh God, bless us during this season of spiritual renewal. Fill our minds and hearts with love, that we may be a sign of Jesus to all those living in our midst. God, bless Candy and give her and Roger the strength to manage this stressful event.

Visited Jim yesterday.  I’m taking him to the VA for an appointment Tuesday at 10:00 AM for some sort of evaluation. He’s having a pretty rough time and probably shouldn’t be by himself, because he can’t take care of himself. Maybe this Tuesday’s appoint will bring about the necessary changes. Pray hard for him!

God bless,

Earl

At 9:30 this morning the respirator on Dan Kreyling was removed.  Per his request it will not go back on.  They have been weaning him off it for several days, turning it off first for a few hours, then longer, working up to around half a day.  When I left him this morning he was breathing fully on his own.  His heart rate was good and he was pushing enough oxygen.  He was more alert today than I have seen him since this began.  In talking to him he opened his eyes and nodded in response to things I said.  He knows all the prayers being said for him.  His doctor did warn that he could breathe on his own for hours or even days then slip back, in which case they will just make him as comfortable as possible and allow things to happen.  I personally feel our prayers are being answered and I remain optimistic that he will recover.  I see him every day, am praying constantly and know that you are praying with me.  Dan knows this too.Thank you,Deacon Bob

Dear Friends,

Just a few minutes ago I received the following text message on my phone from Sean Malone who leads Crisis Relief International (CRI). We then spoke briefly on the phone and I assured him that we would share this urgent prayer need with all of our contacts.“We lost the city of Queragosh (Qaraqosh). It fell to ISIS and they are beheading children systematically. This is the city we have been smuggling food too. ISIS has pushed back Peshmerga (Kurdish forces) and is within 10 minutes of where our CRI team is working. Thousands more fled into the city of Erbil last night. The UN evacuated it’s staff in Erbil. Our team is unmoved and will stay. Prayer cover needed!”

Please pray sincerely for the deliverance of the people of Northern Iraq from the terrible advancement of ISIS and its extreme Islamic goals for mass conversion or death for Christians across this region.

May I plead with you not to ignore this email. Do not forward it before you have prayed through it. Then send it to as many people as possible.

Send it to friends and Christians you may know. Send it to your prayer group. Send it to your pastor and phone him/her to pray on Sunday during the service – making a special time of prayer for this. We need to stand in the gap for our fellow Christians.

Thanks,

Dcn. Wayland Moncrief

to me

Dear Brother Knights,On June 21 – July 4, Catholics throughout the nation will commemorate the annual Fortnight for Freedom. This period of prayer, fasting, and advocacy will be a time for faithful Americans to respond to the many threats to religious liberty our country currently faces. This year’s theme is the “Freedom to Serve,” which highlights the good that Catholic apostolates do for the poor.For information on this year’s fortnight and suggestions on what you can do on behalf of our religious liberties, we encourage you to visit www.fortnight4freedom.org. As leaders in your parish communities, we encourage you to organize and participate in activities in cooperation with your priests and parish leadership. Individually, we ask you to offer special prayers and sacrifices on behalf of our precious First Amendment religious freedoms during the Fortnight.The Knights of Columbus throughout the years has been steadfast in its defense of our First Amendment right to religious freedom. In union with our priests and bishops, we can continue this legacy through our enthusiastic support of the Fortnight for Freedom.Carl A. AndersonSupreme Knight

    • Knight Carl Anderson” <noreply@KofC.org>Dear Brother Knights,Earlier this month, the world learned of Pope Benedict’s decision to retire from the Papacy, effective today.As he steps down from his role as the leader of our Church, and in the days of transition that follow, our thoughts and prayers are with Pope Benedict XVI, who has worked so hard in leading the Church, and has always been such a good friend to the Knights of Columbus. We wish him all the best in his retirement. In addition, we pray for all those cardinals who will take part in the conclave, and for the pope’s successor, that God may inspire them as they carry out the mission with which they are entrusted.Our Supreme Chaplain, Archbishop William Lori of Baltimore has written a Prayer for the Church in this time of transition. I ask you to please commit to pray this prayer daily until the Church has a new pope, and to encourage your brother Knights and fellow parishioners to do the same.We have developed a website for this campaign: PrayerfortheChurch.com. In addition to sharing the prayer itself, please share this site with your council and your parish. The site will allow individuals to add their names to the list of those praying for the Church daily, and will assist them in sharing the prayer and their commitment with family and friends.I ask that you also encourage those brother Knights and their families that are on Twitter to show their prayerful support by using the hashtag #prayerforthechurch.  If you’re on Facebook, you can also pledge to pray and encourage your friends to do the same with our Prayer for the Church facebook app. Visit facebook.com/knightsofcolumbus for more information.The names of all those who pledge to pray this prayer will be brought to the Installation Mass for the new pope.Knights have long been supporters of the Church and the pope, and during this time of transition our prayers are especially needed. This prayer and corresponding campaign provide Knights and all Catholics an opportunity to show their solidarity with the Church through prayer.Thank you for your assistance and for your prayers for Pope Benedict XVI, for the Church, and for our future pope in this time of reflection and preparation.Fraternally,Supreme Knight Carl Anderson

Thank You,

Dcn. Wayland Moncrief at Parish Deacon
